GOOD NEWS

You've finally got that well earned pay increase or perhaps changed to a job that pays more!

BAD NEWS

The Medicare Levy Surcharge is an additional 1% tax paid by certain people who don't have private hospital cover. This is on top of the 1.5% Medicare Levy paid by all taxpayers.

You could be affected!  Are you -

  • Single and earning a total taxable income over $50,000 a year?
  • A couple earning a total taxable income over $100,000 a year? (This amount increases by $1500 for the second and each subsequent dependant child.)

How does it work?

By taking out a qualifying hospital cover* with Latrobe, you are exempted from paying the Surcharge.

For example:  If you are single and earn $56,000 a year, you’ll pay an extra 1% tax – $560 a year.   Why pay more tax?  Put that amount towards a Latrobe cover that suits your needs and enjoy the added security and benefits.

Don't give away what you have worked hard for!

Call Latrobe 1300 362 155 to discuss hospital cover options that will help you to avoid the Medicare Levy Surcharge.

* Qualifying hospital cover:  Extras cover only does not qualify, you must take out hospital cover. Your hospital cover may not have total excess payments in any one year greater than $500 (singles) or $1000 (couples and families).  All of Latrobe’s hospital covers except for CoverWise X4 and X5 qualify to avoid the Medicare Levy Surcharge.
