• Medical benefits increased by 8.9% to $5.5 million
• Prosthesis benefits increased by 10% to $7.4 million
• Extras benefits increased by 2.1% to $8.9 million

During this period our 10 highest individual claims ranged from $89,435 to $61,086. These benefits were for procedures such as a total hip replacement with complications, gastroenterological surgery with complications and cardiac conditions requiring insertion of a defibrillator. The average cost for a defibrillator is now in excess of $53,000.
