During the last financial year Latrobe paid $66.1 million in benefits:

• Hospital benefits increased by 18.1% to $39.7 million
• Medical benefits increased by 9.2% to $7.1 million
• Prosthesis benefits increased by 19.3% to $10.5 million
• Extras benefits increased by 2% to $8.8 million

During this period our 10 highest individual claims ranged from $69,278 to $163,456. These benefits were for procedures such as a total hip replacement with complications, gastroenterological surgery with complications and cardiac conditions requiring insertion of a defibrillator. The average cost for a defibrillator is now in excess of $53,000.
