Top Hospital with CoverWise
Having the best hospital cover doesn't mean paying the highest price. Often you find that if you pay less you get less, but that's not the case when you join Latrobe.
Nobody comes with a lifetime guarantee. We don't believe you should gamble with your health by giving up cover for treatments you hope you won't need. Top Hospital with CoverWise options costs less only because you agree to pay a small amount towards the cost of hospital care if ever you should need it. How does the excess work?
On a single membership, the excess is paid only once in any calendar year.
Top Hospital CoverWise (X1) $150 excess
Top Hospital CoverWise (X2) $250 excess
Top Hospital CoverWise (X3) $500 excess
Top Hospital CoverWise (X4) $750 excess
Top Hospital CoverWise (X5) $1000 excess
In much the same way you claim on your motor or householders insurance, the excess is deducted from the cost of your hospital stay - you pay your excess and Latrobe pays the rest. If the cost of the hospital stay is less than your excess, you pay it all and there is no claim from Latrobe. If you don't pay the excess in full on that admission, it will apply again in full on your next admission.
However, unlike your car or home insurance, you only pay the excess once in any calendar year, even if you are admitted to hospital again.
Note: Do not chooseTop Hospital CoverWise X4 and X5 if you are affected by the Medicare Levy Surcharge described in our Important Information page.
