Choosing the right cover

Before you start, it's essential that you understand the 'rules' that apply to private health cover. Because these rules affect all health cover options, you must read and retain all information provided in the Important Information page.

If you have any questions at all about what the terms and conditions mean or how they might affect you, please call us on 1300 362 155.

How does the excess work?

If you go to hospital, you pay an excess towards the cost of the admission. Your reward is that for each year you have Loyal Members cover, the amount of the excess reduces. After just four years, there is no excess to pay at all, even if you have claims.

Families pay the excess only for the first two hospital episodes in any membership year.

This is how the excess reduces

Year 1 $300
Year 2 $250
Year 3 $200
Year 4 $150

From then onwards, no excess at all

And of course, you'll always continue to enjoy the benefits of our best cover at a substantially lower cost.

When the hospital cost is less than your excess:

You must pay all hospital and medical costs for your treatment. This does not count towards your excess if you have subsequent hospital treatment in that membership year.
