Family Care
Choosing the right cover
Before you start, it's essential that you understand the 'rules' that apply to private health cover. Because these rules affect all health cover options, you must read and retain all information provided in the Important Information page.
If you have any questions at all about what the terms and conditions mean or how they might affect you, please call us on 1300 362 155.
We make family health cover easier
These days, our children stay financially dependant for much longer, perhaps saving for their own home, or working towards regular employment.
For just a little extra, you can maintain quality health cover for all your family on one membership. Family Care covers you and all your children up to their 25th birthday providing they are not married or living in a de facto relationship.
You and your family can have the security of our best hospital cover, or reduce the cost by accepting a co-payment option. And of course, you can combine any Family Care hospital cover with one of the Family Care extras options (described below), to complete your health cover plan.
Family Care, your family's health cover solution even when -
- Your children are no longer full time students
- They are living away from home
- They have their own income

Family Care Top Hospital with MemberShare (K1 or K2)
You enjoy all the benfits of Family Care Top Hospital (K3), but save on the cost by selecting a co-payment if you go to hospital. These options provide great value.
Family Care Top Hospital with MemberShare - How it works
A co-payment is a relatively small amount that you pay each day you stay in a private hospital, each time you or anyone covered by your membership is admitted. However, there is a safety net; the co-payment only applies to the first 7 days of any admission, no matter how long you stay in hospital.
MemberShare (K2) $40 daily co-payment, maximum $280 each admission,
MemberShare (K1) $70 daily co-payment, maximum $490 each admission.
Regardless of which option you choose, the co-payment is just $30 for a same day admission. The daily co-payment does not apply to public hospital admissions.
